Who should attend the conference?

The GSA/ITS 2008 Network Services Conference is structured for maximum interaction. The conference will feature exciting plenary sessions, training sessions, along with an exhibit hall full of vendors eager to highlight the latest and greatest technologies.

The GSA/ITS 2008 Network Services Conference is designed especially for Federal government employees, as well as the Military, whose focus is on transitioning to Networx, learning about new services being offered by our industry partners, information technology solutions, and good for government initiatives. Industry attendees are also encouraged to attend because they will have an opportunity to participate in the training sessions, visit the exhibit hall and network with attendees.

What Federal agencies are participating in the GSA/ITS 2008 Network Services Conference?
Attendees from all the federal agencies and the DOD community attend this annual event. 
What is the registration fee for attendees?
Government and military attendee fee is $700 and the Industry attendee fee (including government contractors) is $1,145.00 on or before July 18, 2008. After July 18, 2008 the fee increases to $750 for government and military attendees and $1,195 for industry attendees (including government contractors).
As a "Newcomer" to the Conference, what is the value of my attendance?

What types of vendors can I expect to see in the exhibit hall?
Meet ITS Industry partners, and see the latest products, services, and solutions they have to offer. Visit over 100 booths of exhibitors that are prime contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers of Network Services.
What is the cost for vendors to exhibit?

The cost per each 10' x 10' booth is $3,995.00. This includes 2 exhibitor badges per 10' x 10' booth.

Will there be educational training sessions?
There will be numerous training sessions tailored to today's working environment and customer needs.
Will the training session presentations be available as handouts?
Some of the presentations may offer handouts to attendees; however, most training session presentations will be loaded on the web site approximately two weeks following the conference.
I'm a presenter.  Where is the closest place that I can make copies of my presentation handouts?  What other amenities are available at the Sheraton Dallas?

Will there be any after hours events during the conference?
What is the Conference attendee-lodging rate?
The sleeping room rate for Government Attendees will be $109.00 per night  Single/Double occupancy. For Industry Attendees the rate is $139.00 per night Single/Double occupancy.
What is the per diem and M&IE rate for Dallas, Texas?
The per diem is $109.00. The M&IE rate is $59.00 per day.
Will tickets be available to family/guest to purchase for evening events and food functions?
Yes, guest tickets will be available for purchase on-site.
Does the hotel have a fitness center?
Sheraton Dallas health club, spas, indoor and outdoor pools are are complimentary for hotel guests.
Are wheelchairs available?
Yes, with advance reservations on a space available basis.  Mobile scooters are available for rental. You may contact the hotel for rental information.
Is there an access fee charged by the hotel for phone calls?
  • Local calls - $.54/call
  • 800 calls and Credit Card calls – $.54 access charge
  • Long Distance Direct Dial – billed at AT&T Operator Assisted Day Rates + 50% surcharge
What kind of Internet connection is available in the guest rooms?
High speed internet access is available for hotel guests in their guest room at the rate of $9.95 per day.
If a traveler has a medical emergency that requires immediate attention, will there be someone on the premises to assist?
The Sheraton Dallas does not have medical care on-site.  However, should a medical emergency take place, House security will be contacted immediately and necessary assistance will be provided. 

GSA will have an EMT on-site during the conference days from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.

The nearest hospital - Baylor Medical Center is located within five blocks of the hotel.

Do the hotel rooms have a complimentary hair dryer?
Yes
Do the hotel rooms have a coffee maker?
Yes, with complimentary coffee supplied.
Is there a charge for shipping boxes to the hotel?
Yes.  Shipping/Receiving Handling Rates are as follows: 2 days out or pay storage charge.

What is the parking rate at the Sheraton Dallas?

Parking tickets, to allow in and out access, may be activated at the Front Desk upon check in for hotel guests.

Should I bring a sweater or a jacket?
Yes.  The temperature in the meeting rooms will be cool.
What airports service Dallas, Texas?
Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Dallas Love Field (DAL) (Regional hub for Southwest Airlines)
Does the hotel offer complimentary Airport transportation?
No.  See below for information on transportation to and from the airport.
How do I get to the hotel from the Airport?
How much time should I allow to travel from the Airport to the Sheraton Dallas and vice versa?
From the DFW Airport it is about 45 min - 1hr. From Dallas Love Field it is about 20 - 30 minutes.
Where can I get information on things to do in Dallas?

Are there any restaurants or attractions close in proximity to the hotel?
Yes – the hotel is located accross the street from the Plaza of the Americas, as well as the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) train that runs behind the hotel. Visit www.dallascvb.com for more information or you can ask the hotel concierge upon your arrival for restaurant recommendations and reservation assistance.
What is the weather like in Dallas during the month of August?
In August the average temperature in Dallas ranges from a high of 96° F to a low of
76° F. It is very humid.
I am a presenter, do I have to pay the conference fee?
Yes, all attendees (including GSA Associates) are required to pay the full conference registration fee.
Will my family be able to attend the Tuesday night Eddie Deen's Texas Experience?
Yes. To register yourself and/or a family member, click here. There are no discounted rates being offered for children. This event is not designed for children. Payment for this activity should be handled via personal funds, credit card preferred.
Where can I get a hotel tax exempt form?

Government Airline Checked Baggage Fees
Many airlines are charging additional fees for checked baggage. The Baggage Allowance Fact Sheet is specific to those carriers under the City Program contract. It is intended to provide information and protect travelers under the contracted fares. New airline checked bag policy applies to travel commencing June 5, 2008. The fact sheet shows the fee charged or if an exception is allowed by the carriers.
